London TC - SW DEPS Sector

Description

The South West Departures sector is extremely complex due to the number of agreements affecting the airspace. Multiple traffic flows interact in the sector and the presence of the OCK hold for Heathrow and WILLO hold for Gatwick adds extra entertainment when busy.

Coordination

Heathrow (EGLL) and Northolt (EGWU)

Heathrow departures to the west and south will be transferred directly from Heathrow Tower to SW DEPS, following their SID routing.

SW DEPS is responsible for the Heathrow OCK stack. If the OCK stack should become full, additional holding should be carried out at BILNI/DOMUT/KATHY or OKESI.

Northolt arrivals are to be treated as Heathrow arrivals.

Gatwick (EGKK)

Gatwick departures to the west and south will be transferred directly from Gatwick Tower to SW DEPS, following their SID routing.

SW DEPS is responsible for the Gatwick WILLO stack. If the WILLO stack should become full, additional holding should be carried out at GWC.

Gatwick arrivals will be transferred in accordance with the relevant standing agreement.

Brize Norton (EGVN), Oxford (EGTK) and Fairford (EGVA)

Brize Norton, Oxford and Fairford arrivals are to be individually co-ordinated with Brize Radar at a maximum of FL100.

Southampton (EGHI) and Bournemouth (EGHH)

Standing agreements exist for Southampton and Bournemouth traffic. Inbounds are to be descended to FL80 via PEPIS and FL90 via GWC. Outbounds will be climbed by Solent to FL70 and routed via one of the standard outbound routings (NORRY-WCO / GWC-OCK / GWC-BENBO / GWC-DRAKE / GWC-BOGNA-HARDY / GWC-SFD / R41-TABEN-KENET) . Solent Radar is responsible for flights which are conducted entirely within the Solent CTA. These will not be co-ordinated with London Terminal Control.

Farnborough (EGLF)

Farnborough inbounds are to be routed towards ODIMI descending to 5000ft if via CPT. Inbounds via SAM/GWC should be routed to ODIMI but an inbound level should be coordinated with Farnborough. and co-ordinated directly with Farnborough Approach. Farnborough Approach will request co-ordination of departures with South West Departures Sector. Departures will be transferred climbing to the co-ordinated level, following the standard departure route.

Farnborough Approach also handles traffic to and from Blackbushe (EGLK), Fairoaks (EGTF) and Lasham (EGHL).
