Area of Responsibility
The area of responsibility for Edinburgh includes the Edinburgh Radar Manoeuvring Area (RMA),
the Edinburgh Control Zone, the Edinburgh Control Area and the airspace within 40nm of
Edinburgh, from the time and place at which:
- Arriving aircraft are released by area until control is transferred to Aerodrome Control (ADC)
- Over flying aircraft are transferred from an adjacent sector, until
such time as control is either returned to the previous sector or passed onto another sector.
- Aircraft from outside controlled airspace place themselves under the
control of Edinburgh until transfer to another unit or until they place
themselves out of the control of Edinburgh.
The Edinburgh approach function is handled by 2 radar controllers (INT and FIN). INT
is responsible for the STIRA and TWEED stacks.
