Approach Policy

INT N is known as the "master" position and shall be the first position to be opened. When online, if there are no other positions open, INT N will provide bandboxed coverage to the Approach positions.

FIN is the next position to be opened. When online, he will carry out the functions of the FIN controller, and INT N will provide bandboxed coverage to the INT N and INT S approach positions. A Tower position must be online before FIN can be opened. If the Tower position goes offline whilst connected and another controller can not be found to carry out the Tower duties, then the FIN position must be closed. If the traffic situation means it cannot be closed straight away, it must be closed as soon as possible. During that time, FIN will assume responsibility for Aerodrome control.

INT S is the next position to be opened. When online, he will carry out the functions of the INT S controller. A Tower position must be online before INT S can be opened. If the Tower position goes offline whilst connected and another controller can not be found to carry out the Tower duties, then the INT S position must be closed. If the traffic situation means it cannot be closed straight away, it must be closed as soon as possible. During that time, FIN will assume responsibility for Aerodrome Control.

LL SPT can be opened if INT N and FIN are online or if the traffic situation dictates it should be open.

SVFR duties should be carried out by THAMES. SVFR may only be opened once THAMES is manned or if the traffic situation dictates it should be open.

Checklist:
- INT N & AIR online = FIN may be opened
- INT N, AIR & FIN online = INT S may be opened
- INT N, AIR & FIN online = INT N SPT may be opened
- INT N, INT S, AIR & FIN online = INT S SPT may be opened

- THAMES online = SVFR may be opened

Aerodrome Policy

Tower:

Before logging onto the network, you should find out the runway in use for landing using the preferential runway procedures and the current weather information. If the Northern runway is in use (27R/09L) you must log on as AIR NTH. If the Southern runway is in use (27L/09R) you must log on as AIR STH. The tower which is responsible for movements on the arrival runway (AKA AIR ARR) is known as the "master" position and shall be the first tower position to be opened. If the tower which is responsible for movements on the departure runway (AKA AIR DEP) is not online, then this tower will provide a bandboxed coverage.

Once the tower responsible for movements on the arrival runway and GMC N are online, the tower responsible for movements on the departure runway may be opened. When online, he will carry out the functions of the departure runway controller. If GMC N or the landing runway controller go offline and other controllers cannot be found to take over, the departure runway controller must close the position. If the traffic situation means it cannot be closed straight away, the tower responsible for movements on the arrival runway will assume responsibility for the ground operations.

Checklist:
- AIR ARR & GMC N online = AIR DEP may be opened

Ground:

GMC N is known as the "master" position and shall be the first Ground position to be opened. When online, if GMC S and GMC W are not online, GMC N will provide a bandboxed coverage to the Ground positions.

GMC S is the next position to be opened. When online, GMC S will carry out the functions of the GMC S controller. GMC S can only be opened when GMC N is online, and when the traffic situation dictates it should be open. If GMC N goes offline and another controller cannot be found to take over, GMC S must disconnect and connect as GMC N.

GMC W is the last position to be opened. When online, GMC W will carry out the functions of the GMC W controller. GMC W can only be opened when GMC N and GMC S are online and when the traffic situation dictates it should be opened. If GMC N or GMC S disconnect and another controller cannot be found to take over, GMC W must be closed.

Checklist:
- GMC N online = GMC S may be opened
- GMC N & GMC S online = GMC W may be opened.

Delivery:

GMP can only be opened when GMC N is online and if the traffic situation dictates.

Checklist:
- GMC N online = GMP may be opened

* AIR NTH and AIR STH may also be referred to AIR ARR and AIR DEP, depending on the runway in use.
