Lighting

Runway Lighting

  • Elevated High Intensity Bi-directional edge lights with low intensity omni-directional component
  • High Intensity uni-directional green elevated wingbar threshold lights
  • High Intensity red end bar lights across the whole width at the upwind end of the runway

PAPIs are installed on all runways and consist of 4 units on the left providing guidance in maintaining the required 3 degree approach angle.

Approach Lighting

  • One crossbar (05) and two crossbars (23) 420m from the threshold.

Noise

The airport is surrounded by many built up areas. Aircraft should avoid overflying the areas of Binley Woods and Stoneleigh.

Selection of Runway

There is no preferential runway procedure in use at Coventry. ATC should take into account wind, cloud base, approach aid limitations, aircraft performance limitations and environmental considerations into account when deciding on the runway in use.
